If Liverpool wants to be taken seriously as a title contender in the Premier League this year, according to Steve Nicol, they must resolve one problem within their current group. Â Following a dismal fifth-place finish the previous season, a solid start with 10 points out of a possible 12 (including victories over Newcastle and Aston Villa, both of whom are playing in European competition) has given hope of contending at the top of the table this time around. Â The former Reds player, however, has stressed that if Jurgen Klopp’s team is to seriously challenge reigning champions and early…
After recovering from a hamstring injury, Ibrahima Konate returned to Liverpool training on Thursday, all other absences may be brushed aside. Â Since the Reds’ 3-1 victory against Bournemouth, Konate has not played for the team and was unable to represent France during the mid-September break. The center-back, though, accelerated his rehabilitation while on vacation in Paris and joined the Liverpool team that reported back to the AXA Training Center this week. Â Konate was visible taking part in a workout with a small, 14-player outfield group on Thursday at noon. Â The likelihood that the Frenchman will be in…
During the first international break of the 2023–24 season, 16 members of the first team of Liverpool competed for their nation, with three in particular having success.  Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate, after being called up, withdrew from the France and England squads, respectively, due to injury. Ryan Gravenberch, meanwhile, chose to stay at the AXA Training Center rather than meet with the Netherlands U21s in an effort to acclimate himself to his new club.  Supporters will be happy to know that no serious injuries were reported, despite the fact that the Reds who did travel were involved…
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are two important players who recently left Anfield for the Middle East, but their chances of pulling Brazilian goalkeeper Thiago Silva away from Liverpool were limited. The Athletic claims that Liverpool’s owners were explicit that no offers would be considered for Alisson and that their position was unambiguous, just as it was over Al Ittihad’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah. The Brazilian international is thought to be content with the Merseyside club and has a contract there through 2027, which he is anticipated to fulfill.  Alisson obtained a big wage raise this summer as a result of…
Pedro Goncalves, an attacking player for Sporting CP, is also of interest to Liverpool. Pedro experienced Aston Villa’s summer transfer offer for him being turned down. The former Wolves youth squad member does, however, still have the opportunity of playing in the Premier League again. O Jogo that Liverpool is keeping an eye on the situation, and Villa is still open to giving it another shot in January. There is interest from Tottenham and Newcastle United, and Pedro’s contract, which expires in 2027, now has a €80 million buyout clause.
Three members of Liverpool’s first team who are expected to play against Wolves on Saturday afternoon have not been seen at first team practice, which has dealt the club a slight setback. After the international break, Liverpool will return to the Premier League with a trip to Molineux to face Gary O’Neil’s struggling team. The Reds will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, which has included an amazing victory over Newcastle United. Darwin Nunez, who scored both goals against the Magpies, may not be available due to his absence from Thursday’s training session. The Uruguayan was…
Following the summer’s activation of a clause in the Brazilian goalkeeper’s previous contract, Alisson is now among Liverpool’s highest-paid players. Â Alisson has established himself as one of Jurgen Klopp’s team’s greatest and most crucial players since arriving from AS Roma in 2018. Given the players he considers teammates, that is no small accomplishment, especially given that in prior years, supporters had little interest in a goalkeeper being one of the standouts. Â However, Alisson, who is in his sixth season at Anfield, is now seen as irreplaceable and a world-class goalkeeper who is now earning a salary commensurate with…
Although Mohamed Salah is praised by Liverpool fans everywhere, is he really underestimated, and if so, why? Â This week’s episode of The Late Challenge and This Is Anfield’s podcast covered this subject. Â Paul Cope and Gareth Roberts discussed Salah’s legacy and why some football fans might still underestimate his talent. The Reds’ No. 11 is the club’s fifth-highest goalscorer in history, outpacing Ian Rush in games per goal ratio (1.64 to 1.91). Â Salah is actually still getting better, according to Cope, who stated: “He still gets goals every season and he’s growing his game. Â “He’s improving,…
After making an impression on RB Leipzig’s head coach Marco Rose during the international break, Fabio Carvalho is anticipated to be given the chance to compete for a spot in the first squad. Carvalho, 21, moved from Fulham to Liverpool last summer but failed to find consistent playing time. This season, the talented winger was given the all-ahead to go out on loan and connected with Leipzig in June. The intention of the move was to give Carvalho more playing time, but so far this season, he has only logged 18 minutes of football. However, it appears that Carvalho will…
