Mohamed Salah went through a difficult period in his football career before reaching his peak for Liverpool.
John Obi Mikel has revealed how former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho made Liverpool star Mohamed Salah cry.The Reds striker has scored a number of goals and assists at Anfield since his move from Roma.
During his time on Merseyside, Salah won everything he wanted, including the Premier League, Champions League and individual awards such as the Golden Boot at England’s highest level.Salah has found himself in the conversation among the world’s elite, but there were times when the Egyptian struggled for form in England on his Premier League debut against Chelsea. From 2014 to 2016, he appeared in 19 matches and scored 2 goals.
His England spell will be under the guidance of public tactician Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager helped propel the Londoners to the top of English football during several spells at Stamford Bridge following his spell in west London. Salah’s former team-mate Mikel has described a half-time incident which left the current Liverpool star “in tears”. At half-time during the Egyptian’s match against Chelsea, Mourinho dressed him and dragged him off the pitch 45 minutes later. “He (Salah) was unlucky because the manager at the time, Jose Mourinho, didn’t get him.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, I remember the game at half-time against Mo Salah, he cried,” he said on the Obi One podcast.“We thought we were going to get him back on the field, but he destroyed it and took it off the field. But that was his mindset at the time. “I don’t think he would do that now. He’s matured. He knows how to deal with young players. He got the best out of us then and that’s why we were successful.”
