SportBild reports that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing forward Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund on board as a backup for Mohamed Salah.
The Merseyside giants had a busy summer transfer window, with their midfield receiving the majority of the attention. To bolster the department, they hired Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
Klopp might want a reliable backup for Salah as they move into the next stage of their rebuild, and according to SportBild, Malen is the right candidate to fill that position at the Premier League sideHe still has three more years on his contract, so he won’t sign on the cheap for the Reds. According to SportBild, Dortmund will ask for at least £52 million before considering selling the former PSV Eindhoven player.
In the summer of 2022, Malen agreed to join the German team from PSV. He suffered a muscular injury at the beginning of his career, which was challenging. The Dutchman had a difficult time adjusting in the following months but settled down in the final stages of the season. His final stats with Dortmund were 10 goals and 8 assists in 35 games.
The former Arsenal graduate has maintained his strong play so far thisthe right wing, and Liverpool are now lacking in this area. They don’t have a substitute ready in case Salah leaves in the future.Although they are both capable of playing from the right flank, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota prefer to be on the left wing or at position nine.
Malen would be a terrific addition to the team, but Liverpool will have to shell out a lot of money to get him because Dortmund wants to recoup the full £26 million they paid to PSV. He is the ideal age to move up to the Premier League with Liverpool at the age of 24.
