Premier League coach Jurgen Klopp has attempted to clarify remarks he made about early kickoffs, saying that people “misunderstand” the argument he is trying to convey.
Prior to the 3-1 victory over Wolves, the manager criticized the English fixture schedule, calling the number of matches his team plays on Saturdays at 12.30 p.m. a “joke.”
Last season, the Reds lost six of their seven games that started early on a weekend, and they will play Everton at Anfield at the same time next month.
Last week, Klopp was blunt in his criticism of the schedule, although he has now clarified that some people misinterpreted his remarks.
There is no issue. Thursday-Sunday. As Klopp discussed Sunday’s visit from West Ham, he said, “It would be better if we played a little bit later but people misunderstand it when you talk about the 12.30pm.
“It is true that there are only two and a half hours between the games at 3 o’clock, but it is very different when you eat before the game at 9 o’clock.
Because they are from a whole different time zone, it indicates that the boys are actually not there yet. And everybody who has ever experienced jet lag understands how that feels.
So, playing at 2 p.m. is definitely preferable to 12.30 p.m. You might claim that it just takes an hour and a half, but you only say that if you’re lying.
