In Sunday’s Premier League match between West Ham and Liverpool, West Ham’s standout player Jarrod Bowen is questionable to play.
The 26-year-old has contributed three goals and an assist in five games so far for the Hammers during a great start to the 2023–24 season.
When Mohamed Salah leaves for Saudi Arabia next summer, the winger has even been predicted to take his place.
Bowen, though, was not there for West Ham’s victory over Backa Topola on Thursday in the Europa League, and David Moyes later disclosed that the former Hull City player is battling a sickness.
Despite Bowen’s absence, West Ham won their Europa League debut 3-1, with one of the goals coming from recent acquisition Mohammed Kudus.
West Ham are in fantastic form, having won three of their first five Premier League games despite last weekend’s defeat to league champions Manchester City.
Going into the weekend, Moyes’ team is currently sixth in the standings, three points behind Liverpool.
In contrast to Liverpool, who could welcome back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed the previous two games due to a hamstring ailment, West Ham have few other availability issues besides Bowen. In addition, Virgil van Dijk will rejoin the Premier League after serving his two-match suspension.
