Takumi Minamino has revealed why he is finally regaining his form after a difficult start away from Liverpool. He is currently tearing it up at Monaco.
Last summer, Liverpool traded Minamino to Monaco for a fee of £15.5 million. If the buying club could get the best out of the Japanese, it would represent profit for the Reds while still being a decent deal.
Minamino suffered while Niko Kovac and Philippe Clement were in charge, frequently playing on the sides. Last season, he made 25 appearances, 15 of which he started, scoring just once while dishing out four assists.
He has three assists this season and, after just five games, has increased his goal total.
Now that Monaco is unbeaten and in first place in Ligue 1, Minamino is contributing to goals every 71 minutes on average. The former Red is one of two No. 10s playing more centrally behind Wissam Ben Yedder.
“Klopp always had a word for everyone, even those who weren’t playing,” the 28-year-old added.
Players pay attention to him because of this, in my opinion, which makes him such a fantastic coach. Even the stand-ins’ motivation remained intact thanks to him.
You can only become more confidence when you have a coach like that.
Speaking further about working with his new management, Minamino said: “I already knew his manner of playing, so I attempted to implement it right away. Everyone seemed to have his own ideas.
He provides us with training programs, for instance, in which his aims and final purpose are always stated.
If Hutter can keep bringing the most out of the former Liverpool player, who has such superb technical talent, he may have a real star on his hands.
