The 22nd player under Jurgen Klopp and player 223 overall to reach 100 appearances for Liverpool’s first team is Curtis Jones.
Jones made his 100th appearance for his childhood club, Liverpool, in the 3-1 comeback victory over Wolves.
He did so to become the 223rd player to play 100 or more times for the Reds, with 22 of them doing so while playing for the current management.
Jones has played in 100 of those games, starting 62 of them, playing all 90 minutes in 36 of them, 48 of them at Anfield, 50 away from home, and two at neutral sites.
The majority—66—were in the Premier League, while 13 were in the FA Cup, 11 were in the Champions League, 8 were in the League Cup, and 2 were in the Community Shield.
Given that he is only 22 years old, made his debut in 2019, and has experienced a number of injury issues in recent years, it is a remarkable accomplishment for the midfielder to have won 64 of his 100 games, drawn 19 matches, and lost 17. Jones is one of only nine players on the current squad to have made at least 100 appearances.
In November, Jones agreed to a new long-term contract that would keep him committed to the team he has called home since he was six years old through at least 2027.
He won’t turn 23 until the end of January, at which point he will have been a member of the senior team for five years and served as Liverpool’s youngest-ever captain.
With Gerrard (710), Jamie Carragher (737), and Ian Callaghan (857) having made the most appearances in Liverpool history, there is a high bar for local players at Anfield.
