Harvey Elliott, a midfielder for Liverpool, has asked Mohamed Salah to commit his future to the club after Al Ittihad shown considerable interest over the summer and is predicted to do so again.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has never scored fewer than 19 goals in the Premier League, and in four of his six complete seasons to date, he has scored 30 or more goals overall. The Egyptian also passed Thierry Henry’s previous record of 200 goals and assists in the Premier League with two assists in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Wolves.
Salah is a top target for the Saudi Pro League, and Liverpool turned down a £150 million offer from PIF-controlled Al Ittihad because they were set on keeping him. For the 31-year-old, Al Ittihad was prepared to surpass the transfer world record, which is presently £200 million. That made some individuals in Anfield consider the prospect of cashing in, and 90 minutes later it became clear that Salah was eager to leave.
But by the time the transfer market closed in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool had not changed their earlier position that Salah was not for sale. Jurgen Klopp was among those who wanted Salah to stay.
However, it does give rise to the chance that Al Ittihad may return and the story won’t be done.
Elliott told the Liverpool Echo, “Touch wood, he never leaves.” But if he does leave, I want to be the one to pick up advice from him and use it to improve my performance. I hope he stays for the remainder of his career. I’ll do my best to keep him, but for everyone on the team, it’s a dream come true to be working with him and learning from him.
“Week in and week out, we see it all. Mo is a fantastic player and a fantastic person. He has both the ability to complete plays and the creativity to come up with new ones. You can rely on him at all times.
“Mo’s ingenuity is just extraordinary, and I don’t think people recognize it to the extent that they ought to. Since he is well recognized for his objectives, I believe that it might come as a surprise to the general public. As I’ve already mentioned, his ingenuity is on par with the best in the world. Such a challenge to play against.
“He has wide-ranging eyes, and I do try to ask him,”Since I can relate to him in that way, I do attempt to work closely with him so I can learn. Finding out from the greatest is exactly what it is.
