AS reports that Liverpool are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, whose contract expires at the conclusion of the current season.
The summer transfer window was exciting for the Merseyside giants. They added Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch to their midfield department as reinforcements. Near the deadline, Al-Ittihad, a major Saudi club, made numerous attempts to sign Mohamed Salah, but Liverpool was unwilling to let him go.
However, there is a chance Salah will depart at some point in the upcoming season, and Jurgen Klopp’s team may be prepared for this with a switch to Williams. The excellent winger, who has the option to sign a pre-contract with an abroad club, is wanted by Liverpool, per AS.

Williams’ 2022–23 season at Athletic was a major turning point. In 43 games, he scored 9 goals and added 6 assists. The right wing was mostly responsible for his involvements. He has four assists from four games this season. For the La Liga team, he has primarily played on the left side of the attack.
Therefore, the 21-year-old is a multifaceted player and is at ease playing on either flank. He should only become better with time and experience, and Liverpool might look at him as Salah’s replacement rather than spending a lot of money on a player who is still in the prime of his playing career.
To sign him to a free transfer agreement would be a tremendous statement, but it’s unclear if they would be able to achieve that.
