Peter Schmeichel, a former goalkeeper for Manchester United, does not think Liverpool has a chance to contend for the Premier League crown this year. The former Danish goalie thinks the Reds are too weak and unable to compete with Manchester City.
Schmeichel commented on Premier League’s Matchday Live after the Merseyside club’s 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, September 16, according to the Liverpool Echo:

 “[Liverpool] can’t [keep up with Manchester City], in my opinion. I doubt that they are capable. Arsenal might be the team, but it is a very remote possibility. We just looked at that line-up today, and when you see their back four, I don’t think anyone can stay with Man City. How are you going to compete with that? How are you going to compete with [Kyle] Walker, [Ruben] Dias, [Manuel] Akanji, and Gvardiol?
“You can’t match it, and Liverpool can’t match it for sure,” he continued. I concur with you, Steve McManaman, they are incredibly exposed in the rear.

 After winning four and drawing one of their first five games this season, Liverpool is presently third in the Premier League standings. The Reds sit two points back of league-leading Manchester City.

The Merseyside team battled Gary O’Neil’s team over the weekend at the Molineux Stadium. With goals from Cody Gakpo, Andrew Robertson, and an own goal from Hugo Bueno, Klopp’s team won convincingly. Within the opening seven minutes of the game, Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan managed to score, but it was in vain as the Reds achieved a comeback triumph.
