Zaragoza-born In an U18 Premier League match on Saturday, September 16, Nigerian central defender Wellity Lucky scored his first goal in a competitive game for the Liverpool young squad as the U18s defeated Blackburn Rovers 4-2.

Another player of Nigerian descent, Fola Onanuga, who started the 2023–2024 season as a first-year scholar, joined Lucky in Liverpool’s starting eleven.

On September 8, Lucky scored in a friendly game between Liverpool U18s and Southend United, which the Reds won 10-0. He next scored against Blackburn Rovers.

Lucky doubled the lead in the 33rd minute by heading in a free kick that was placed to the far post after Trey Nyoni had given the visitors the lead.

Lucky did well to keep Liverpool ahead before halftime by making a strong block to keep Rovers from tying the score.

Jayden Danns and Trent Kone-Doherty scored further goals for Liverpool, and Matty Litherland and Zach Stritch scored goals for Blackburn Rovers.

After participating in 18 games for Liverpool U18s, including 13 in the U18 Premier League, 3 in the U18 Premier League Cup, and 2 in the FA Youth Cup, Lucky scored his first goal against opponents.
