Even though the transfer window technically closed on Friday, Wolfsburg has already made the announcement that a deal has been reached to sign Grabara, 24, to a contract for the upcoming season.
The Polish goalkeeper will transfer for €13.5 million (£11.5 million) from FC Copenhagen to the Bundesliga team.
The Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung claims that Liverpool would also profit from the agreement because a 20% sell-on clause was built into the contract when Grabara left for Denmark back in 2021.
In principle, the deal, which is scheduled for next summer but might be moved forward to January, will net the Reds about £2.3 million.
Grabara moved to Liverpool from Ruch Chorzow in 2016, however he never played for the main team while he was on Merseyside.
Grabara won’t be the only former Liverpool goalie to succeed in the Bundesliga after leaving Anfield. Peter Gulacsi, a player for Hungary, departed the Reds in 2013 after failing to play for the first team as well, but he went on to RB Leipzig, where he is still today, where he has developed into one of the league’s most dependable goalkeepers.
