Jordan Henderson’s apologies for offending their community has been rejected by Kop Outs, the official LGBT+ supporters group for Liverpool.
At the end of July, Kop Outs released an open letter regarding Henderson’s transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq, stating that they were “absolutely shocked and angry” about the decision after witnessing the England international stand by them as an allay throughout the course of his Anfield career.
The former Reds skipper spoke out frequently against prejudice against LGBTQ+ people and supported the Premier League’s Rainbow Laces campaign. Then, many were greatly shocked to see Henderson travel to a nation where homosexuality is illegal.
The 33-year-old detailed his departure from Liverpool today and stated that his goal in moving to Saudi Arabia this summer was “never to hurt anyone” in the LGBTQ+ community, but Kop Outs did not agree with his assertions.
 The LGBTQ+ Fans Group tweeted: “Henderson refuses to acknowledge his involvement in sportswashing, aiming to hide the abhorrent Saudi human rights record. Sorry isn’t good enough @JHenderson, but this sounds more like an effort to revive his “brand.” Actions speak louder than words. Visiting for the football game? For up to 5,000 spectators in sweltering heat with other veteran players. It would be preferable for the managers and players here to manage and play in a lesser league football instead of selling themselves.”
