Brentford’s apparent failure to sign Johan Bakayoko could yet pave the way for a future transfer to Liverpool. The player informed the Bees that he will not be heading to the Premier League this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, who provided the update on X on Friday morning.
Jacek Kulig, a scout for X, called the Belgian forward a “wonderful talent,” and he has enjoyed a strong start to the season with four assists in seven appearances. This follows the forward’s impressive performance the previous season, when he amassed 15 goal contributions in 39 appearances (a goal or assist every 165 minutes).
Naturally, the first objective for Jurgen Klopp’s team has always been clear: restock the midfield position and sign a left-sided center-half to bolster the defense.
The first of the two goals will most definitely have been accomplished once Ryan Gravenberch is formally revealed as Liverpool’s fourth summer signing, following Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo.
Given the continued uncertainty surrounding Mo Salah’s future at Anfield and the fact that his contract is set to expire in just two years, it’s very probable that discussions have started behind the scenes about how the team could protect the right flank in the event that Salah leaves in 2024.
