Mohamed Salah, a forward for Liverpool, has extended his contract with the Anfield team.
Salah previously had a contract that ran through 2023, and he concluded last season as the Reds’ leading scorer. He will remain at Liverpool on the new contract until 2025, making him the highest-paid player in the history of the team with pay exceeding £350,000 weekly.
Since joining Liverpool from the Italian club in 2017, the former Chelsea and AS Roma forward has been a significant player, helping Jurgen Klopp’s team win the Premier League and Champions League among other honours. The news comes shortly after Sadio Mane, one of Liverpool’s title-winning strikers, left for Bayern Munich.
Salah told liverpoolfc.com, “I feel amazing, and [I] am anxious to win trophies with the club. “Today is a joyful day for all.
“I believe that renewing takes some time, but now that everything has been completed, all that is left is for us to concentrate on what comes next. I believe it is clear that the team has been moving in the right direction over the past five or six years.
“Last season, we came very close to winning four trophies, but regrettably, we lost two in the final week of the campaign. I believe that we are well-positioned to fight for everything. New signings have also been made. We only need to keep up the excellent work, have a clear goal in mind, remain optimistic, and try everything again.
Darwin Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica this summer, is the first addition to their roster. The Uruguayan frontman has signed a contract that, if all the conditions are completed, could make him the club’s all-time leading signee.
A deal to bring Fabio Carvalho from Fulham to Anfield has also been finalized by the Reds, and Luis Diaz, who joined the team in January, is gearing up for his first full season with the team.
“My message [to the fans] is that the players in the team want to give our best next season to try to win all the trophies,” Salah continued. We will continue to win trophies together if you support us and give us a strong push, as is customary.
