In the forthcoming Premier League matchup against Aston Villa at home on Sunday, September 3, Liverpool’s defender Ibrahima Konate is expected to be out.
Manager of France Didier Deschamps has disclosed this. For the games against Ireland (September 7) and Germany (September 12), both UEFA Euro Qualifiers, he has chosen the center-back.
Recently, injuries have afflicted 24-year-old Konate. He started the first two league games (Chelsea and Bournemouth), but a muscular issue kept him out of the 2-1 victory over Newcastle United last Saturday.It could not have come at a worse moment for Jurgen Klopp that the young defender, who was a member of France’s team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, could not be available.
Virgil van Dijk, their captain, has already been missed since he was sent off against Newcastle. Only Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are expected to be the experienced center-back options for the Villa encounter for the German manager. Konate was a member of Deschamps’ squad for the impending international break.
Since joining Liverpool in 2021, Konate has played in 55 games in all competitions. Although he has missed 15 games due to injuries, he has still provided three goals and an assist.

The Reds defeated Bournemouth 3-1 at home after a tense 1-1 draw at Chelsea on August 13.Klopp’s team shown courage and perseverance in their next league match against Newcastle United on August 27. Darwin Nunez scored a late brace off the bench for the Reds to secure their second straight league victory despite being down a goal and a man.
Klopp’s team has seven points after three games, which puts them in fourth place overall in the Premier League standings, two points behind early leaders Manchester City, who have won all three matches. On Sunday, the Reds’ next game is against Aston Villa.
