Thiago Alcantara’s father, Mazinho, a midfielder for Liverpool, has said he would like to see his son play for one of his previous teams before he decides to retire.
Since his transfer from Bayern Munich to Anfield in 2020, Thiago, 32, has excelled. His moments of brilliance demonstrate what a technical genius he can be, from his mesmerizing goal against FC Porto in the Champions League group stages to his precise clipped pass into Sadio Mane for a third goal in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley versus Manchester City.
But the only facet of his playing that has Liverpool fans more unhappy is his dismal injury record since his arrival, as the Spaniard has yet to participate in any of the club’s recent games.
He was also considered for a transfer to the Saudi Pro League earlier in the summer, but it turned out that this was not likely to happen.
However, this hasn’t stopped more rumors from circulating around the No. 6, and his own father has made a request for who to sign for when the time is perfect.
During a 16-year career, Mazinho, a World Cup champion with Brazil in 1994, played for eight clubs, with the majority of those appearances coming for Celta Vigo in Spain.
Although Thiago himself was raised in Vigo starting at the age of five, his father was registered with Lecce when he was born in San Pietro Vernotico, Italy. In the end, Mazinho expects to see him return here via Mundo Deportivo.
“In football, you never know. I certainly hope so, but right now, things are really tough since Thiago has a different outlook on life. But Thiago should be able to come here, the Brazilian said to reporters in the Spanish city before a recent match honoring Celta’s centenary.
