On Friday afternoon, Duke shared two photos of Flagg dunking during a solo session at the team’s practice facility. The caption was minimal—but the response was anything but. Fans instantly began speculating that the post could be a subtle hint regarding Flagg’s still-pending NBA Draft decision.
The 6-foot-9 freshman phenom has been projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft since before he even stepped onto the court in Durham. And after a dominant season where he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game—not to mention winning the Wooden Award—it seemed all but certain that Flagg would be a one-and-done.
Even Duke head coach Jon Scheyer, who coached Flagg to a 35-4 season and a Final Four appearance, admitted he wasn’t counting on a sophomore campaign from his star. When asked before the Final Four whether he’d try to convince Flagg to stay, Scheyer responded honestly: “No. Although I can dream about that. But that’s all it is in this case. I think it’s a dream. I think he’s got to take the next dream in his life and be the top pick in the NBA draft and start his professional career.”
Still, the recent social media post has many wondering if that “dream” may not be over just yet.
