Za’Darius Smith of the Cleveland Browns is one of the most talked-about players in NFL trade rumors as Tuesday’s deadline approaches.
Many believe Smith is likely to be traded, though the Browns might still decide to keep him. Smith, however, isn’t seen as a long-term asset for Cleveland, so trading him now may be the best business move.
The Browns face a tough decision in the coming days. They must decide whether to hold out hope for a playoff push or accept their current 2-6 record, especially after trading their top wide receiver and likely looking at a high draft pick. While either option is possible, the latter appears more practical.
Smith is arguably the best pass rusher on the market right now and has been linked to several teams if a trade materializes.
Amid the trade rumors, Smith addressed the situation calmly: “Man, I don’t pay attention to that stuff,” he said. “I’m in year 10 now… if there’s a trade, that’s business. That’s handled upstairs. I’ll just keep having fun with my teammates and take it day by day.”

Smith has been Cleveland’s most productive pass rusher this season, even outperforming Myles Garrett. In eight games, Smith has logged 22 tackles and five sacks, proving he’s still an elite edge rusher at age 32 and could be a difference-maker for a Super Bowl contender.
With the deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see if the Browns trade Smith. While it seems possible, a deal is by no means certain at this point.
