The Green Bay Packers are currently 5-2 and are in a competitive position in the NFC North. Like many teams, they’ve faced injury challenges, but they may be getting a key player back for their Week 8 matchup.
According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt expects to play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I should be able to go this Sunday,” Wyatt stated on X.
Wyatt, a first-round pick in 2022, has shown steady improvement and was having a strong season before suffering an ankle injury in Week 4. He returned to practice today for the first time since the injury.
His presence is significant alongside Kenny Clark on the Packers’ defensive line. Wyatt recorded 5.5 sacks last season and had already tallied 3.0 sacks this year before getting hurt.
Wyatt’s return could be crucial against the Jaguars, who rank tenth in the NFL in rushing yards and average 5.1 yards per carry, placing them fifth in that category. The Packers’ defense is about average in run defense, so having Wyatt back would bolster their efforts against a formidable rushing attack featuring Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne. However, Etienne may miss the game due to a hamstring injury.
