Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell recently appeared on the Rich Eisen Show, where he discussed Aidan Hutchinson’s recovery from the injury he sustained against the Dallas Cowboys.
“Whenever he feels ready to be around, we want him here, as long as he’s safe on the sideline,” Campbell said. “We’ll manage it, even if that means keeping him contained off to the side.” Hutchinson was making a strong case for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year before his injury, making this setback significant for the Lions. It will be crucial to see if he can eventually join his teammates on the sideline, which would undoubtedly boost team morale.
Regarding Hutchinson’s recovery, Campbell expressed optimism, stating that Hutchinson is in good spirits and is expected to return even stronger.
“He’s doing well, and you know Hutch—he doesn’t stay down for long,” Campbell remarked. “If anyone can come back better, it’s him. He’s dedicated and will do whatever it takes. I’m confident he’ll be in a good place soon. We talked about this last week; in about a month, he’ll start feeling better and healing.”
Meanwhile, the Lions are maintaining their strong performance this season, recently defeating the Minnesota Vikings 31-29, bringing their record to 5-1, tying them with the Vikings for the NFC North lead. This weekend, they will face the Tennessee Titans, followed by critical games against the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans. Hutchinson will likely be cheering for his teammates from the sidelines soon.
