The New England Patriots have found a new running backs coach.The Patriots plan to sign Taylor Embree to help with the offense, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS. Most recently, he was the coach of the New York Jets from 2021-2023.Embry is a wide receiver from UCLA who also has experience as an NFL player. He signed with the Chargers as a free agent in 2012, but was waived at the end of the preseason.Then he moved on to coaching. Embry started as a graduate assistant at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2012, but returned to UCLA as a graduate assistant for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
He got his first opportunity in the NFL as a defensive assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, but then moved on to become the offensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2019. He returned to college in 2020 to coach at Colorado State University. Before the 2021 season, Embry joined the Jets and stayed until the end of the 2023 season, but was later informed that he would not be returning. Produce.
The Patriots offensive coaching staff is starting to take shape since hiring Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator. T. S. McCartney, Ben McAdoo, Tyquan Underwood, Scott Peters and Robert Coogler are also on staff. Mayo and Van Pelt still need a wide receivers coach and a tight ends coach.
