In the coming weeks, at least one NFL quarterback who started the 2023 season as a starter is expected to be traded.
Mac Jones, the quarterback of the new england patriots, is “most likely to end up somewhere else” this offseason, according to NFL network.
Bill Belichick, who sacked jones multiple times this season, is no longer the head coach in new england, but it is expected that Jerod Mayo, the current head coach, will start fresh at the QB position.
The patriots have the no. 0 overall. In the upcoming 2024 nfl draft, there will be three overall picks. If caleb williams is the first player off the field, new england is in a position to take either north carolina’s drake maye or lsu’s Jayden Daniels, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
In free agency, three players will be signed and a veteran quarterback will be signed. In that scenario, jones is most likely to be out. Jones had a pro bowl rookie season in 2021, but it has been a letdown. He started this season with 2,120 yards, ten touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, totaling 2-9.
The patriots have been told that they will keep jones for at least another season, but they will continue to look at ways to improve. Given jones’ performance in 2023, it shouldn’t be all that difficult to find a better option.
