For the 2024 season, the new England patriots have another assistant coach returning to foxborough.
Cornerbacks coach mike pellegrino is expected to return to the team and continue in his current role, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. This will be his 10th season with the patriots. He has spent his entire coaching career in new england, first joining the patriots in 2015 as a coaching assistant.
He was promoted to cornerbacks coach in 2019 and has remained in that position ever since. He’s also won two super bowls with the team, not to mention that he’s won two super bowls.
So it’s safe to say that pellegrino is aware of the patriots’ winning ways and wants to help them return to form. the cornerback room has had a rough season, with many injuries keeping players out for games. And pellegrino has handled it all well, with some rookies getting great opportunities. His ability to help rookie alex austin grow in such a short amount of time is a good example.
This week, he will be the second coach to return to the team, with brian belichick returning to coach safeties. Since he already worked with jerod mayo on defense last season, it makes sense why he wanted to bring them back. And the defense has been solid, so the coaches are doing something right, as shown by the pictures. Let’s see if anyone else will return with pellegrino and belichick returning. Let’s see who else they bring in.
