Is there still a chance for a belichick — or two — in new England? Bill belichick’s days with the patriots are over, but his sons, brian and steve, are still in new england to work under head coach Jerod mayo.
Both assistants were given a chance to stay, and a recent study indicates that steve could see a bigger role if he stays around.
During a monday morning appearance on weei’s “the greg hill show,” mayo was asked about the belichick sons. Mayo said, “we have a great working relationship.” “they have the ability to stay, they have the ability to go with their father if they so desired. ….. i’m still going through it.
They’re excellent mentors. We’ll see what happens. since 2012, steve has worked on the patriots’ defensive coaching staff in a variety of capacities, including as a linebackers coach and play-caller. Brian has been on the staff since 2016, coaching safeties for the last four seasons.
According to reports, bill is expected to sign with the atlanta falcons after numerous talks with the franchise’s front office. As of monday morning, belichick hadn’t spoken with any other teams.
