Green Bay Packers fear Kingsley “JJ” Enagbare may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Sunday night’s win over the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL tight end Ian Rapoport.
Enagbare is now in doubt about making it to the next round of the playoffs. He scored a touchdown during a 48-32 win over Dallas in the wild card round and has been a key contributor on defense this season.
“My heart goes out to him right now,” coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday night. “It doesn’t look very good.”The former fifth-round pick out of South Carolina joined the Packers’ defensive line this season after a solid rookie season. He ended the Packers’ 2022 season with the team’s most sacks over the last eight games. This season, he has 37 tackles with two sacks, eight tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
Enagbare had a successful collegiate career with the Gamecocks, playing a total of 121 games over four seasons with the program. Enagbar had a strong season in 2021, recording 44 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a forced fumbAfter the draft, he continued his success with the Packers. As a rookie, he recorded 31 tackles with three sacks in 17 games. The former Gamecock will play for Green Bay on a four-year, $3.9 million contract. There is no five-year extension on his contract, so he is locked up until 2025 unless the Packers trade him sooner.
