Liverpool started 2024 with a bang, beating Newcastle 4-2 at Anfield thanks to braces from Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool are scheduled to travel to FA Cup rivals Arsenal on January 7, followed by their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Fulham.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been in fine form this season. The 31-year-old has scored 14 goals in 19 Premier League games this season and will fly to the AFCON to represent his country in Ivory Coast.
However, Football Transfers report that he is “close” to a contract extension at Anfield. Salah’s current contract expires in the summer of 2025, when he turns 33, but Football Transfers claim that both sides could extend him beyond that date.
This is certainly good news for Liverpool fans as the Egyptian shows no signs of slowing down. Salah has scored 26 goals in 25 games in all competitions for Liverpool this season and is currently tied with Manchester as the Premier League’s top scorer.

Liverpool brought Williams back due to a lack of menu options despite injuries to defenders Kostas Tsimikas, Andy Robertson and Joel Matip in the first half of the season.
Whether he can provide much-needed defensive cover remains to be seen as the Reds play in four competitions over the coming weeks and months. He is likely to remain at Anfield and currently serves as Jurgen Klopp’s full-back.
If Liverpool beat Arsenal, the defender could see action in the opening round of the FA Cup. Williams’ only appearance for Aberdeen came in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Peterhead in August, which they lost 5–3. Williams’ contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2026.
