Eric stokes, a green bay packers cornerback, has returned to injured reserve as a result of a hamstring injury, putting one more obstacle to a secondary that has already lost suspended cornerback jaire alexander.
Stokes wasn’t on friday’s injury report, but the packers announced saturday that the hamstring injury prevented the 2021 first-round pick from georgia from playing sunday at minnesota. Later saturday, the packers placed him on injured reserve.
Stokes spent time on injured reserve earlier this season due to a hamstring injury. Stokes has only played in three games this season, and in one, he was limited to four special-teams snaps. Alexander would be suspended for one game on wednesday after the packers (7-8) announced it. When the packers face all-pro receiver justin jefferson and the vikings (7-8), alexander and stokes will be sidelined, causing a big playoff clash for both teams.
On sunday, alexander took over as green bay’s captain, 33-30, defeating carolina, and then botched the pregame coin flip by saying the packers preferred to go on defense rather than moving forward. According to friday’s injury report, packers linebacker de’vondre campbell (neck), wide receiver christian watson (hamstring), tight end luke musgrave (kidney), offensive tackle luke tenuta (ankle), and running back emanuel wilson (shoulder) are doubtful for sunday’s game. Wide receiver dontayvion wicks (chest/ankle), defensive lineman tj slaton (knee/foot), safety darnell savage (shoulder), and cornerback robert rochell (neck) are all questionable.
On saturday, the packers added safety benny sapp iii to the active roster, and wide receiver bo melton from the practice squad to the active roster for sunday’s game.
