Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has named two Liverpool heroes as his football idols.The Reds have been regularly linked with a move for the Brighton player before he joins Tottenham in 2022. Bissouma was outstanding under then manager Graham Potter and his performances put him firmly on Liverpool’s radar.
After a difficult debut season in north London, the 27-year-old appears to have rediscovered his best form under new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. Bissouma is showing form, although not always, to be a huge asset for Brighton. “I came out of the dressing room during that game and saw Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah,” Bissouma said. “These were the guys I saw on TV when I was in France and now to face them in the tunnel felt like a dream. Do you know what I’m saying? Mane and Salah were my idols and I thought ‘wow’.
“My heart was beating fast.”Bissouma is not the only player who loves playing against Liverpool in the Premier League, especially at Anfield. The Spurs midfielder is desperate to beat Manchester United this season as Liverpool look to overtake just Manchester City for the club’s second Premier League title.
