In a major development for Kentucky basketball, head coach Mark Pope has officially confirmed that former NBA All-Star and Wildcat legend John Wall will be joining the University of Kentucky men’s basketball coaching staff — but not in the role many first speculated.
Despite initial reports suggesting Wall might serve as an assistant manager, Pope clarified the details in a press conference on Tuesday: “Not as an assistant manager — John is coming in with a far more impactful role.”
Wall, who played for Kentucky during the 2009–2010 season under then-head coach John Calipari, has remained closely connected with the program over the years. Now, more than a decade after dazzling fans in Rupp Arena, he is returning to Lexington in a leadership capacity — this time as an Associate Head Coach.
