BREAKING: Duke’s 2025 Roster Takes Shape as Scheyer Adds Two After Kon Knueppel’s Departure

The college basketball offseason is heating up in Durham, as head coach Jon Scheyer continues to retool the Duke Blue Devils roster. After the surprising departure of highly touted freshman Kon Knueppel, the program is already pivoting with purpose.

Scheyer confirmed the addition of two more players to next season’s roster, ensuring the Blue Devils remain stacked with talent and versatility heading into the 2025 campaign.

While details on the newest additions remain under wraps, Scheyer’s comments suggest Duke is targeting experience, toughness, and high basketball IQ — qualities the team will need after Knueppel’s exit. A sharpshooter with a smooth offensive game, Knueppel was expected to be a key contributor. His departure leaves a scoring and playmaking void, but Scheyer appears to be filling it fast.

Despite the roster shuffle, Duke retains a solid core. Tyrese Proctor announced he’s staying in Durham for another year, giving Duke a steady veteran presence in the backcourt. Known for his court vision, perimeter defense, and leadership, Proctor’s return is a massive win for Scheyer and company.

Caleb Foster, another returning guard, is poised to take a major leap in his sophomore season. Foster’s size, shooting, and ability to handle both guard spots make him an essential piece. Alongside Proctor, the duo forms one of the most experienced and skilled backcourts in college basketball.

On the frontcourt, Sean Stewart is also sticking around. A high-energy big with elite athleticism, Stewart showed flashes of brilliance during his freshman season. His ability to guard multiple positions and finish around the rim will be key as Duke faces off against physical ACC competition.

The combination of returning talent and fresh additions is setting up another promising year for the Blue Devils. Scheyer’s staff has made it clear they’re focused on building a group that’s not only talented but also resilient and team-oriented.

Losing a top-30 recruit like Knueppel stings, but Duke has proven time and again its ability to adjust and reload. With Proctor, Foster, and Stewart anchoring the squad — and two new pieces soon to be unveiled — the Blue Devils are once again shaping up to be a major contender on the national stage. The Jon Scheyer era is finding its rhythm, and 2025 could be its most compelling chapter yet.
