For Duke fans still replaying the heartbreak in San Antonio, here’s a final gut punch: Cooper Flagg, the freshman phenom who electrified college basketball, isn’t coming back. After leading Duke to the Final Four and living up to his high school hype, the NBA Draft looms large for Flagg. Even ESPN’s Jay Bilas is convinced. “He’s not coming back,” Bilas stated, noting Flagg’s off-court focus on golf as a sign of his shift towards the professional realm.

Despite Flagg’s dream of NBA stardom being so close, the official announcement remains pending. With his standout performances—averaging 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game—Flagg’s one-and-done season at Duke under Coach Jon Scheyer was nothing short of spectacular. While Duke fans savor the memories, the reality is clear: Flagg’s college chapter is closing, and the NBA is calling.

Meanwhile, the 2025 draft class boasts more than just Flagg. Jay Bilas likens it to the legendary 2003 draft, highlighting players like Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. Walter Clayton Jr. has emerged as a standout, propelling Florida to a national title and sparking serious lottery chatter. Clayton’s consistent performance and defensive leaps have elevated his draft stock, making him a potential first-round pick. As Bilas suggests, Clayton’s ability to shine in crucial moments makes him a special prospect in this deep draft class.
