In November 2024, the Kentucky Wildcats secured a significant commitment from four-star point guard Acaden Lewis for their 2025 recruiting class. Lewis, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound standout from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., chose Kentucky over other elite programs, including Duke and UConn.
Lewis’s decision was influenced by the welcoming atmosphere he experienced during his interactions with the Kentucky coaching staff. He noted, “Kentucky felt like a community. Coach Pope came to my barbershop and everything; his staff did a lot for me. It felt like a home. It felt like somewhere I should be.”
On the court, Lewis is recognized for his exceptional ball-handling skills, court vision, and scoring ability. His high school coach highlighted his leadership qualities and his knack for making crucial plays under pressure. During his junior year, Lewis averaged 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, leading Sidwell Friends to a Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title and the DCSAA Class AA tournament championship.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope expressed enthusiasm about Lewis joining the Wildcats, stating, “Acaden Lewis is so much of what you want to find in a great point guard. He has incredible vision. He’s got a beautiful stroke. He can get to the rim and finish, can make every pass, and already understands the probing nature of a point guard.”
Lewis’s commitment adds depth to Kentucky’s backcourt, complementing fellow 2025 recruits Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno. This trio is expected to bring a dynamic and versatile skill set to the team, enhancing the Wildcats’ competitiveness in the upcoming seasons.
