Boston Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum sat out Wednesday’s road game against the Phoenix Suns due to a sprained left ankle.
Before the game, Tatum worked out on the court with a trainer but was ultimately ruled out less than an hour before tipoff.
He sustained the injury during the Celtics’ win over the Sacramento Kings on Monday, exiting in the third quarter. Initially listed as doubtful on Tuesday, he was upgraded to questionable on Wednesday afternoon after completing a workout.
The 27-year-old is averaging 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and a career-high 6.0 assists in 66 games this season.
Boston’s next game is on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs.
