Lindsey Vonn admitted that she didn’t do herself any favors by responding on social media after finding out she wouldn’t be teaming up with Mikaela Shiffrin for Tuesday’s team combined race at the skiing world championships.
The 40-year-old Vonn had advocated for a partnership with Shiffrin to form a “dream team” for the new event, which is set to debut at the Olympics next year.
When Vonn saw Shiffrin announce on Instagram that she would be racing with newly crowned downhill world champion Breezy Johnson, she expressed her frustration on X (formerly Twitter).
“Why am I not surprised?” Vonn wrote on Monday, accompanied by a shrug emoji, before deleting the post and replacing it with another.
“Maybe I didn’t do myself or the team any favors by tweeting,” Vonn said on Tuesday. “But at the same time, I’m human, and I was disappointed by the lack of communication. I expressed my feelings because, well, I have them. So, sue me.”
