The Cleveland Browns appeared uncertain about Amari Cooper’s future with the team.
Despite his impressive performance in 2023, they opted not to offer him a contract extension. Eventually, even with their season still within reach, they traded him to the Buffalo Bills.
At the time, the move seemed like a significant and necessary addition for Josh Allen and the Bills’ offense. However, Cooper has largely been a non-factor throughout the season.
Following his catch-less performance in Buffalo’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, numerous fans took to social media platform X to suggest that the Browns may have come out on top in the trade.
The Bills sent Cleveland a third- and a seventh-round pick in exchange for the former Dallas Cowboys star. Although Cooper has been one of the league’s most underrated and reliable receivers over the years, his future with the Bills now seems uncertain.
If Cooper hopes to find a new team, he may need to accept a short-term, budget-friendly deal.
Meanwhile, the Browns seem content moving forward with Jerry Jeudy as their primary receiving option. Jeudy found his stride in the second half of the season, forming a strong connection with quarterback Jameis Winston and finally showcasing the potential that made him a first-round pick out of Alabama.
Even so, Cleveland would be wise to add another wide receiver to their roster in the offseason to bolster their offense.
