The Cleveland Browns’ roster could undergo significant changes next season, which comes as no surprise after their 3-14 record.
Several players may become trade candidates in the coming months, including offensive tackle Jack Conklin, who was highlighted by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox as one of the NFL’s top 10 trade candidates heading into the offseason.
Knox explained, “While keeping two-time First-Team All-Pro right tackle Jack Conklin would make sense, trading him could help free up cap space and add draft picks.
Conklin is a high-caliber starter when healthy, but with Deshaun Watson’s massive contract, the Browns need to rebuild their roster with players on rookie deals.”
The Browns initially signed Conklin in 2020, and he made an immediate impact, earning a First-Team All-Pro nod in his first season. However, injuries have since plagued the 30-year-old’s career, limiting his availability and effectiveness. Despite these issues, Cleveland extended him in December 2022 with a four-year, $60 million deal.
So far, that extension hasn’t delivered the desired results. Conklin has appeared in just 34 games over the past four seasons and has shown signs of decline.
With two years left on his contract and $28 million in base salary due in 2025 and 2026, the Browns may face challenges finding a trade partner for the injury-prone lineman.
