The Cleveland Browns face significant decisions this offseason, with perhaps the toughest being the future of running back Nick Chubb.
Once one of the NFL’s most dominant runners, Chubb struggled after returning from a severe knee injury last season. His 2024 campaign, further shortened by a broken foot, saw him play just eight games, rushing 102 times for 332 yards and three touchdowns—averaging a disappointing 3.3 yards per carry.
At 29 years old, doubts linger about whether Chubb can ever return to his previous elite form.
With that in mind, the Browns may need to find a replacement for Chubb. Even if he stays for another season, Cleveland must improve their ground game. A recent NFL mock draft by AtoZ Sports suggested an intriguing solution: drafting Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson in the third round.
Selecting Henderson could be a fan-favorite move, as Browns supporters enjoy seeing local Buckeyes join the team. Henderson, despite sharing backfield duties with Quinshon Judkins, has had a standout season. Before Ohio State’s College Football Playoff matchup against Oregon, he had tallied 831 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 118 carries, averaging an impressive 7.0 yards per carry.
Adding Henderson would provide Cleveland with a dynamic playmaker for the future. While he may not be ready to carry the full workload immediately, pairing him with Chubb could create an effective two-headed backfield.
Over time, Henderson could develop into a key piece of the Browns’ offense, ensuring a smooth transition when the team eventually moves on from Chubb.
