The Cleveland Browns, now sitting at 3-12, have seen their season unravel largely due to chaos at the quarterback position.
Fans endured seven games of underwhelming performances from Deshaun Watson, who signed a $230 million guaranteed deal, before he suffered a season-ending Achilles tear. Jameis Winston stepped in but quickly lost his starting role after a string of interceptions, paving the way for Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) to take the reins.
However, DTR’s struggles have only added to the team’s woes, with one analyst summing up public sentiment by highlighting his “horrendous throws.”
On a recent episode of The Hanford Dixon Show, Angry Ken criticized Thompson-Robinson’s performance in the Browns’ recent loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, noting that he got away with some poor decisions. Ken also expressed a lack of confidence in general manager Andrew Berry.
In his first start of the season against the Bengals, Thompson-Robinson completed 20 of 34 passes for 157 yards and two interceptions against what is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s weakest defenses.
The Browns became the only team this season to face Cincinnati and fail to score a touchdown, a glaring indictment of their offensive struggles. DTR’s career totals now stand at just one touchdown against nine interceptions, leaving little reason to believe he’s a viable option moving forward.
Despite his lackluster play, the Browns are giving Thompson-Robinson another opportunity to prove his worth when they face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The Dolphins, fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, will be without their star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, potentially giving the Browns a slight edge.
However, DTR’s performance will likely determine whether Cleveland can salvage any positives from an otherwise dismal season.
