Injury: Despite Disappointing Lose, “Cleveland Browns’ Key Player Faces Uncertain Future After Painful Setback Against Steelers”

The Cleveland Browns face several injuries after their 27-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike Ford left the game with a concussion, and Greg Newsome also exited after getting hurt during punt coverage. Newsome, who visited the medical tent in the fourth quarter, later expressed optimism about his condition.

Speaking to analyst Scott Petrak, Newsome shared, “I felt my hamstring pop on punt return (while blocking). I hope it’s not as bad as I think and that I can keep playing.”

Newsome has had a challenging 2024 season. He has appeared in all 13 games, recording 27 tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception. However, he has allowed a career-high 461 receiving yards and four touchdowns, with opponents completing 61.2% of passes against him, one of his worst rates in four seasons, per Pro Football Reference.

Before the Steelers game, much attention was on Newsome’s coverage of George Pickens, a potential rematch after their postgame fight in their previous encounter. However, Pickens was a last-minute scratch, eliminating that anticipated matchup.
