In an ideal world, NFL home fans would consistently show respect to the visiting team’s supporters and family members, but this isn’t always the reality.
According to the wife of Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Wyatt Teller, Week 14 at Acrisure Stadium was one of those exceptions.
Following the Steelers’ 27-14 victory over the Browns, Carly Teller took to social media to voice her disappointment with the behavior of Pittsburgh fans toward her and other Browns players’ wives.
“The fans in Pittsburgh today were so blatantly disrespectful to me and the Browns girls,” she posted on X. “I’ve never felt so attacked by people I literally did nothing to. Very sad/embarrassing behavior.”
The rivalry between the Steelers and Browns is well-known, and it often extends to their fanbases. However, such animosity doesn’t justify mistreatment of players’ family members, who attend games to support their loved ones.
It’s important to note, though, that not all Steelers fans should be painted with the same brush. Isolated incidents shouldn’t overshadow the majority of respectful supporters.
