The New England Patriots face a significant need at wide receiver heading into the offseason, and addressing this issue will be a top priority.
With Drake Maye established as their franchise quarterback of the future, surrounding him with reliable targets is essential. Ideally, the Patriots will add at least one primary weapon, if not two, to bolster their offense.
Among the potential options, NBC Sports Boston’s Nick Goss has suggested DeAndre Hopkins, currently with the Kansas City Chiefs, as a possible target. Hopkins, who previously visited New England as a free agent in 2023 before signing with the Titans, has had a solid 2024 season. Splitting time between the Titans and Chiefs, the veteran wideout has recorded 41 catches for 498 yards and four touchdowns.
At 32, Hopkins is no longer the dominant force he once was, but he remains a capable starter and could provide an immediate upgrade. While not a long-term solution, Hopkins could play a key role for the next year or two. Pairing him with a younger No. 1 receiver would significantly boost the Patriots’ offense and help Maye’s development.
New England is expected to be highly active in pursuing wide receiver talent this offseason, whether through free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft. While Hopkins is just one of many options, his experience and production make him an intriguing possibility for the Patriots.
