Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is not at risk of losing his job, despite the team’s disappointing 2-8 record this season.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on The Insiders that Stefanski is expected to remain as head coach through the 2025 season.
Amid speculation about his job security, Stefanski, speaking to reporters this week, dismissed concerns, emphasizing his focus on preparing the team for Thursday night’s game.
Reflecting on his upbringing in Philadelphia, where he frequently listened to talk radio, Stefanski noted it helped him learn to ignore “outside noise.” When asked about his future, he remarked, “That’s life in the big city. My sole focus is getting this team ready to get a win on Thursday night.”
Rapoport expressed surprise at the scrutiny Stefanski has faced, calling it “wild” given Stefanski’s credentials, including being a two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year (in 2020 and 2023).
Rapoport pointed out that Stefanski’s leadership helped the Browns achieve significant success, even in challenging circumstances, such as leading a team with Joe Flacco at quarterback to the playoffs.
Despite a disappointing 2024 season impacted by injuries and poor performances—particularly from quarterback Deshaun Watson before his injury—Rapoport affirmed his belief that Stefanski’s job is secure, stating, “I would be beyond stunned if Kevin Stefanski was not the Browns’ coach next year.”
Stefanski’s tenure with Cleveland has been marked by ups and downs. While he has two winning seasons under his belt, the Browns are on track for a losing record this year, which would drop his overall coaching record to .500. Currently, Stefanski holds a 39-38 (.506) record as head coach.
