The next step is building a competent supporting cast,” Latham wrote. “Chris Godwin won’t fix this offense singlehandedly, but he’s a strong step forward.
With the NFL’s weakest group of pass-catchers—Demario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, and Kayshon Boutte—all better suited to smaller roles—adding a legitimate weapon could make a huge difference. Maye has already shown he can excel in difficult situations, so imagine his impact with a top-tier receiver.”
Godwin has proven himself as a top receiver during his time with the Buccaneers. Despite playing just seven games during the 2024 season due to injury, he managed 50 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns.
At 28 years old, Godwin could be a long-term solution for New England. If he fully recovers and stays healthy, he could be one of the best receiver options available.
However, signing Godwin won’t be easy. Tampa Bay may attempt to retain him, and numerous teams across the league are in need of receiver help.
