After a rough start for both teams, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb scored the first touchdown of the game just before halftime against the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Thursday Night Football.”
This touchdown was particularly meaningful, as it marked Chubb’s return to facing Pittsburgh after suffering a serious left knee injury against them during the 2023 season.
Thursday’s game was Chubb’s first against the Steelers since that injury and his fifth start of the season. The Browns are aiming for another upset in the competitive AFC North. Following quarterback Deshaun Watson’s Week 7 Achilles tendon rupture, Jameis Winston led the Browns to an unexpected win over the Baltimore Ravens the following week.
Beyond the rivalry, Chubb’s touchdown carried added significance given his previous experience against Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman left the game in the third quarter due to a suspected head injury.
Tillman had made a 4-yard catch on the last play of the quarter but sustained a hard hit to the side of his head. Attempting to push for a first down on a third-and-5 play, he came up short. After being tackled, Tillman appeared unsteady while trying to stand, prompting team trainers to take him to the medical tent.
Before his departure, Tillman had recorded two catches for 28 yards but also lost a fumble. Coming into Thursday’s matchup, the 24-year-old had tallied 27 catches for 311 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games (five starts) this season.
