The New England Patriots have strengthened their roster by signing linebacker Titus Leo from the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.
This mid-season move, led by first-year head coach Jerod Mayo, comes at a time of cautious optimism for the franchise, largely due to rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s development.
Leo, a promising prospect out of Wagner College who joined the Colts in 2023, adds depth to a Patriots defense that has been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.

New England’s offense, led by Maye, ranks among the league’s worst, averaging just 16.5 points per game and last in passing yards at 165.9 per game.
However, Maye’s 13th-ranked QBR signals growth, offering hope for the future.
Despite a 3-8 record, the Patriots have shown increased competitiveness, with their upset win over the New York Jets serving as a prime example. However, the remaining schedule is daunting, featuring matchups against playoff-contending teams like the Dolphins, Bills, and Chargers. These challenges will test the Patriots’ resolve and require contributions from players like Leo to keep the defense resilient.
Although a playoff push is unlikely in 2024, Jerod Mayo’s focus remains on laying a strong foundation for the team’s young core. With seven games left, Mayo has the opportunity to prove his leadership and set the stage for a new era in New England.
