The Green Bay Packers didn’t deliver their cleanest performance against the Chicago Bears, which seems to reflect a recurring theme this season.
Despite the errors and inconsistencies, head coach Matt LaFleur offers an optimistic outlook on how the team can improve moving forward—even if the path isn’t entirely clear after a series of messy games.
“It’s a relief. It was a roller-coaster game, but that’s this league—you have to be resilient,” LaFleur said after the Packers’ narrow 20-19 victory over the Bears. “Not everything will go your way, but you’ve got to keep battling and block out the scoreboard.”
While some might be concerned about the Packers’ current form, LaFleur is focused on the future. His forward-looking perspective drives his determination to keep the team improving.
“Whatever has happened has no bearing on what’s going to happen,” LaFleur explained. “You’ve got to keep pushing forward. Whether it’s good or bad, you’ve got to play the next play.
We stress that all the time, and it’s rewarding to see our guys show that resiliency. The effort on that last play defines the character of our team. The way they give everything, even on a field-goal block, is a testament to their commitment.”
The Packers secured their first divisional win of the season thanks to a field-goal block in the final moments, improving to 7-3.
However, a critical matchup against the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field looms large next week.
While LaFleur acknowledges there’s plenty of room for improvement, his focus remains on the road ahead. “It’s just one game,” he said. “I’m not worried about the past. It’s great to get a win, even if it wasn’t our best performance.
The margin for error in this league is razor-thin, and you have to find ways to win tight games like we did today.”
