Rookie quarterback Drake Maye has started strong against the Rams, giving the Patriots an early 7-0 lead.
On New England’s second drive, Maye connected with Kendrick Bourne for a 10-yard touchdown pass.
The drive began with a 14-yard completion to DeMario Douglas, followed by another pass to Douglas on third-and-7 for a 28-yard gain into Rams territory. Maye then hit Austin Hooper for 18 yards to enter the red zone before finding Bourne over the middle for the score.
This marked Maye’s eighth touchdown pass of the season and Bourne’s first touchdown reception of the year.
New England’s opening drive showed promise but stalled due to a chop block penalty and a dropped pass, leading to a punt.
Through two drives, Maye has completed 7 of 9 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.
