The New England Patriots secured a big victory against the Chicago Bears today, with Drake Maye and the team finishing strong in a 19-3 win.
Throughout the game, the Patriots’ defense consistently pressured Caleb Williams, allowing just three points and showing top-tier performance.
Jerod Mayo must have been thrilled with the defense’s effort.
Not long ago, he criticized them harshly, even calling them soft.
This week, however, the defense was crucial to New England’s success. After the game, Maye displayed strong leadership during his press conference.
As soon as he took the stage, he acknowledged the defense’s contribution to the win.
“Phones down, phone’s down,” Maye said. “Notepads down. We’re clapping up the defense. Clap it up, clap it up. Somebody else clap up. There we go.”
Just how dominant was the defense? Williams completed only 16 of 30 passes for 120 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions, and he was sacked nine times.
Maye himself completed 15 of 25 passes for 184 yards, a touchdown, and one interception. He also added 24 rushing yards.
Although Maye had a solid game, his immediate praise for the defense highlighted his leadership qualities. All season, he has shown maturity beyond his years, and with his leadership and talent, New England’s future looks incredibly promising.
