The Patriots may find that kind of player in the upcoming free agency.
Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report suggested that the Patriots could be an ideal landing spot for Buffalo Bills’ free agent Amari Cooper. According to Knox, Cooper’s veteran presence would be valuable to a young quarterback like Maye. Similarly, other teams like the Titans may also look to pair Cooper with a rookie quarterback in 2025.
Though Cooper, at 30 years old, is nearing the later stages of his career, he remains a productive receiver. This season, he’s recorded 29 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns. While his numbers may not be eye-popping, he still brings reliability and experience to the field.
The Patriots may prefer targeting a younger wide receiver, like Tee Higgins, who could develop alongside Maye over the long term. However, Cooper’s experience could be invaluable in guiding New England’s young receivers and providing Maye with a dependable option in the offense.
Though Cooper may not be the perfect solution in every respect, his addition would elevate the offense and support Maye’s growth. It’s a scenario worth keeping an eye on.
